Arizona Kids Care is a Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides affordable health care for children from families with low annual income. Children under the age of 19 are eligible to apply for this insurance program. The children who come from families below the maximum level of income allowed by the insurance can apply and choose a health plan for their child covered in their zip code area. After the application is approved, you have to choose a primary doctor that words the health plan you selected. The primary doctor you select will be your first person to go to for health checkups and emergencies.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant should be 18 years or younger.

He/she should be a resident of Arizona.

The family income should be less than 200% of the federal poverty line.

The applicant should be able to communicate either in English or Spanish.

Not under any other healthcare insurance

Is not eligible for the AHCCS (Medicaid) coverage

The applicant is a member of a house that will pay the premium of the insurance.

Is either a citizen of the United States of America or a qualified immigrant.

How to Apply for Arizona Kids Care?

We can apply for the Children’s Health Insurance program online. You can apply for yourself, a family member, or as a guardian for someone. You have to fill out an application online and submit it.

Later on, you have to print the application. You can apply for AHCCCS Medical Insurance for everyone in your family. We can easily find the applications on the Department of security’s Application Page. The application does not have any waitlist.

The resource is delivered either at Service Locations or at home. You can also have it delivered in the community with a service area.

Arizona Kids Care will cost a maximum of 50 to 70 dollars per month. This amount will be inclusive regardless of the number of children in the family.

Applicable Stress Zones

Green Zone – Stress is manageable. This is when the person is physically and mentally fit. Is able to manage school/college/work without any obstructions caused because of stress.

Yellow Zone – The person falls under the Yellow Zone when there are signs of distress. If the person is not able to sleep, gets short-tempered, is agitated continuously, or has relationship stress with the family or anyone else.

Orange Zone – This is when the person needs instant support with their stress. When they experience panic attacks, the person falls in the Orange Zone, has suicidal thoughts, and shows signs of self-harm.

Red Zone – The person will be considered in the red zone when he/she has a threat to their own life. They can exhibit signs of suicidal behavior as well as can be a harm to others.


After your application is submitted, approved, and you have selected your primary doctor. He/she will be the first person you will go to for care. They will authorize your non-emergency services and send you for specialist consultation if required.
