One of the other two significant causes of depression is known as Bipolar I Disorder. Bipolar I Disorder is when one’s moods are in a series of ups and downs, while at the same time, there is a time when it feels normal. The last of the four major causes of depression is called Depression Type C. It is believed that this type of depression has certain differences from the others. One more cause of depression in schizophrenia. While many types of psychosis are not officially diagnosed, one does experience the negative changes in their behavior and mental processes associated with schizophrenia.

Depression can occur in people of all ages, but the condition appears to be most common in the teens and early twenties. Also, depression is thought to be one of the leading causes of premature death in teenagers.

Treatment For Depression

Treatments for depression include both medication and psychotherapy. Medications to treat depression include antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).

The use of other forms of therapy that focus on talking, mental imagery, and other techniques are also used to treat depression. Not all individuals will respond to treatment, but in those that do, most individuals tend to find that they have improved over time.
